Abstract

This case study analyses the possible impact of English Medium Instruction (EMI) on a postgraduate course in Logistics Operations at a public institution in São Paulo focusing mainly on the students' proficiency level, their English learning experience and their interest in taking EMI courses. Through the application of a questionnaire to the students, it was found that their proficiency varies between A1 and B1 (CEFR) and they have difficulties in listening comprehension and speaking skills. The use of English in professional environment was sporadic, but there was interest in taking EMI courses. Thus, the implementation of the courses faces challenges, particularly the need for preparatory courses to improve proficiency and make EMI implementation possible.
