Abstract

The study analyzed the socioeconomic profile, ergonomic conditions, health aspects, and productive practices of 20 family farmers from the Recôncavo Baiano. A predominance of females, low educational levels, ages between 45 and 55 years, income below the minimum wage, and lack of access to government programs were observed. Most had 20 to 30 years of experience in agriculture, worked more than eight hours per day, and adopted agroecological practices, such as not using pesticides. Intense exposure to ergonomic risks was identified, such as repetitive movements and handling heavy loads, leading to musculoskeletal complaints, especially in the lower back. The most frequently reported chronic diseases were hypertension and diabetes. The findings highlight the need for public policies, technical training, and occupational health actions, combined with sustainable agricultural practices and environmental preservation, aimed at improving the quality of life of these workers.
