Abstract

This article aims to analyze the existing women's protection mechanisms in the State of Maranhão, in light of Law No. 11,340/2006, and reflect on their effectiveness in combating gender-based violence in the State. Using a bibliographic and documentary research methodology, with a mostly qualitative approach, the study addresses the main protection instruments, with emphasis on the Emergency Protective Measures (MPU), the integrated action of the Casa da Mulher Brasileira in Maranhão and the use of digital protection tools. The results demonstrate that the State of Maranhão has advanced in consolidating an articulated protection network, including technological initiatives that expand access to protection and justice. However, there is a need to continually strengthen these mechanisms, especially within the State, in order to guarantee faster, more accessible and effective responses to multiple forms of gender-based violence.
