Abstract

Root resorption involves the progressive or transitory loss of the structures that make up the tooth, due to physiological, pathological or idiopathic conditions, and may have favorable or unfavorable prognoses depending on the degree of evolution of the pathology. The aim of this work is to report the clinical case involving teeth 21 and 22 with a diagnosis of external root resorption with several possible predisposing factors and that despite having practically the same diagnosis, the prognosis for each one was different due to the fact that the pathology is more advanced in one than the other. The diagnosis of root resorption was defined by the evaluation of radiographic examinations, confirmed by the analysis of anamnesis and semiology. This study is important to demonstrate to patients that periodic visits to the dentist are essential to diagnose pathologies early, in order to favor the prognosis and increase the treatment success rate.
