Abstract

The objective was to identify experiences of obstetric violence throughout the pregnancy and puerperal period of pregnant women treated in health units in the municipality of Barra do Garças, a city located in the interior of the state of Mato Grosso, being characterized as a descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Data collection occurred through interviews with questions. The results demonstrate that some of the pregnant women who participated in the study experienced physical, verbal and psychological violence, and at times experienced negligence by professionals responsible for providing care. In conclusion, according to reports from the participants in this study, they show the importance of quality prenatal care, which respects the dignity and autonomy of women, with this reflecting on their mental health.
