Abstract

This study aims to analyze the knowledge of nursing professionals about the performance of palliative care in hospitalized patients. The research has a qualitative and quantitative character, the collection of data occurred through field research, which has a semi-structured questionnaire involving 18 nursing professionals, in which they work at the Municipal Hospital of Barra do Garças-MT. After carrying out the survey, we identified that 100% of these professionals reported having adequate knowledge to perform such care, however, the common survey noted a contradiction since 77.7% of these professionals did not have satisfactory knowledge and only 22.2% correctly answered the questions about having technical-scientific knowledge to perform such care. Thus, the analyzed study is necessary for the implementation and continuous and permanent training to improve the knowledge of the multidisciplinary team in palliative care.
